Preparation

  • Ensure surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free from dirt and grease to promote proper adhesion.
  • Previously painted surfaces should be sanded thoroughly before application.
  • Fill any holes or gaps with an appropriate filler such as Polycell Wood Filler for general repairs.
  • No undercoat is needed for previously painted surfaces when using Sandtex One Coat Exterior Satin.
  • For bare wood, treat knots or resinous areas with a knotting solution or stain blocker.
  • Prime bare wood with one coat of Sandtex 10 Year Primer Undercoat.
  • Metal surfaces should be primed with a suitable metal primer.

 

Application

  • Do not apply if rain is expected or if temperatures may drop below 8°C during application or drying. Conduct a test patch to ensure satisfaction with the final appearance.
  • Stir the paint thoroughly and use a brush. If using multiple tins, mix them together in a large container to ensure consistent colour.
  • Apply evenly and avoid over-spreading the paint.
  • In most cases, one coat is sufficient. For strong colours, a second coat may be necessary.
  • Allow at least 16 hours between coats.
